The steps of care: The burn-out reduction through a training program in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Treviso.
Abstract
The training project "The steps of care" was made with doctors, nurses, parents and OSS Operative Unit Complex of Neonatal Pathology Department of Maternal and Child Hospital of Treviso Ca'Foncello, 20010-2012 conduct of a team of psychologists, educators occupational doctors and parents. It's a training in research-action which saw the creation of six micro projects to improve the organization of the department, designed and implemented by the operators themselves. The outcomes measured in pre / post test through the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) Health and Safety Executive (HSE) found a significant shift in the proportion of Burn-uot (from 34% to 18%) showing how the direct involvement of staff in the management of the department is a factor of health in the workplace. The article describes the structure of the project,the resulting operational phases, the final results.
